November Update: A New Frontier for Rust

Facepunch’s development commits and staging activity this week confirm major features coming in the November 2025 update. From naval warfare to expressive gestures, the game is expanding in bold new directions.

Naval Combat & Deep-Sea Exploration

Cannons on Boats

Craftable, player-mounted cannons are coming to Rust. These directional weapons offer physics-based recoil and tactical placement options.

AI Naval Patrols

PT boats and RHIBs now feature smarter AI, including flanking, ramming, and repositioning mid-combat. Expect more dynamic offshore encounters.

Deep Sea Biome

A new oceanic region will be accessible via map-edge portals. This zone features stronger waves, fog, and radiation hazards—ideal for high-risk, high-reward exploration.

Floating Cities & Ghost Ships

New points of interest include floating cities with casinos, bars, ziplines, and rope ladders. Ghost ships and tropical islands offer loot and lore for adventurous crews.

Hotfixes & Balance Changes

Facepunch released an optional server and client update this week addressing several gameplay bugs and balance issues:

Blueprint Fragment Drops Expanded

Basic blueprint fragments now have a chance to drop from military crates, large underwater crates, junkpile scientists, and roadside metal detecting—making early-game progression more accessible.

Radtown Loot Adjustments

Military crates no longer spawn exclusively in rad towns, improving loot diversity across the map.

Shield & Drone Fixes

Shields now behave correctly when unequipped. Drones received multiple fixes, including corrected drop cooldowns, improved camera angles (from 60° to 80°), and enforcement of grenade drop limits.

UI & Visual Polish

Graphical artefacts in the building guide were resolved, and crosshair code import was improved for better consistency.

These changes improve stability and balance ahead of the November update, ensuring smoother gameplay across all server types.

Other News

While the Naval Update takes centre stage, Facepunch continues refining Rust’s assets, systems, and tooling behind the scenes:

Medical Syringe Visual Update

The medical syringe is receiving a refreshed model and texture pass, improving clarity and realism in both first-person and inventory views.

Rust’s 12th Birthday Cake Gets a Glow-Up

The celebratory cake asset has been updated with new textures, subsurface profiles, and an improved icon display—just in time for the anniversary wipe.

RPG Skins Branch Created

A new development branch has been opened for RPG skins, suggesting future customisation options for explosive weaponry.

Menu Analytics Improvements

Backend analytics now track menu load times more accurately, helping identify performance bottlenecks across UI elements.

Workshop Scene Enhancements

Continued improvements are being made to the workshop scene, likely supporting better asset previews and creator tooling.

UI System Optimisations

Ongoing optimisations to the UI system aim to reduce overhead and improve responsiveness across all resolutions and input types.

The November update promises to reshape gameplay across the rust islands and now sea's. Stay tuned and as always, keep you tool cupboard stocked and your comms clear!
