The shadows have lengthened once again across the Rust landscape, and with the October 23rd patch, the 2025 Halloween event has officially descended upon us. Running until the next forced wipe on 6 November, this yearâs event blends returning favourites with a few devilish twists, perfect for survivors who like their loot with a side of fright.

Portals Return: Dive into the Darkness
Randomly spawning across the map, portals are back and more treacherous than ever. Step through one and youâll find yourself in a claustrophobic underground dungeon teeming with hostile Scarecrow NPCs. Each portal encounter varies, but expect a mix of:
2â5 Scarecrow enemies
1â3 loot crates (Normal and Military variants)
Clear the area, grab what you can, and escape before the portal collapses. These dungeons are high-risk, high-reward, ideal for geared players or coordinated duos.

Build-a-Beast: Frankenstein Pets
The Frankenstein Table makes its return, allowing players to craft their own monstrous companion. Collect Frankenstein parts from roaming Mummies and Scarecrows, then assemble your pet using:
3 parts (head, torso, legs) from light, medium, or heavy variants
200 metal fragments at a Level 1 Workbench
Each pet type offers trade-offs:
Type | Speed | Health | Notes |
Light | Fast | Low | Great for scouting |
Medium | Balanced | Balanced | Versatile |
Heavy | Slow | High | Tanky but sluggish |
Parts are interchangeable, so mix and match to suit your playstyle. Once built, use the new radial pet menu (hold P) to issue commands like Follow, Guard, Assist, or even Self-Destruct.

Only one pet can be active at a time, and they wonât follow you beyond 100m.

Trick or Treat: Candy-Fuelled Chaos
Every other in-game day, a Trick or Treat event triggers. Players have 3 minutes to collect as much Halloween Candy as possible. Candy can be:
Eaten (+1 HP, +25 calories)
Upgraded into loot bags:
10 Candy â Small Loot Bag
10 Small â Medium Loot Bag
10 Medium â Large Loot Bag
Top 3 candy collectors receive bonus loot bags. Expect themed rewards like:
Pumpkin Buckets (faster candy collection)
Scarecrow Wraps (enhanced candy vision)
Weapons, resources, and spooky décor

Roaming the map with Chainsaws, Sickles, and even Bean can Grenades, these NPCs are no joke. With ~40 active on a default map and 200 HP each, theyâre a persistent threatâespecially near monuments and high-traffic zones.
Sample loot includes:
SAR bodies, F1 grenades, pitchforks
Flashing lights, guitars, and rope
Frankenstein parts
Seasonal Cosmetics & Carvable Pumpkins
The item store features new Halloween-themed skins and carvable pumpkins. Paint them like signs, add wood, and light them up for eerie base décor. Expect community-made designs and limited-time bundles.
Bonus: Spooky Resource Pickups
Even the environmentâs had a makeover. Wood, stone, ore, and now bones, appear in Halloween-themed variants. Keep your eyes peeled while gathering.
Whether you're braving the portals solo or commanding your stitched-together companion into battle, this yearâs Halloween event is a rich blend of nostalgia and novelty. For UK Rust players, itâs a perfect time to rally your team, reinforce your base, and embrace the chaos.
Stay safe out there, and donât forget to check your six. The scarecrows donât knock.
