Rust: Diving into the Latest Commits – What’s Changing?

Rust's Latest Updates – Fresh Changes & Future Content

Rust’s developers are hard at work refining the game, bringing useful quality-of-life improvements while gearing up for future features. Let’s take a look at the latest progress and what players can expect in the coming months.

Naval Expansion on the Horizon

The anticipated naval update is shaping up with significant development efforts. Floating cities are in the works, promising new opportunities for exploration and loot-hunting on the water. Alongside these additions, outboard motors, a manual anchor system, and sails are also being developed. While this update isn’t expected to arrive in June, it’s likely to roll out in the next couple of months, bringing new dynamics to Rust’s maritime gameplay.

Base Building Tweaks

For those refining their bases, a small but useful change is here—more deployable' s can now be demolished within 10 minutes of placement. This applies to Watchtowers, Barricades, Wind Generators, Paddling Pools, and Water Catchers. A practical improvement for anyone who occasionally misplaces key structures or wants the flexibility to adjust their layout without unnecessary hassle.

Attack Helicopter Ammo Adjustments

Pilots now have greater control over their rocket selection. Holding 'R' brings up a radial menu allowing them to switch between HV and incendiary rockets, similar to how attachments are handled. Additionally, pilots can now manually reload rocket pods without firing a full volley, ensuring rockets are ready when needed in high-pressure aerial battles.

Apple Availability Changes

Players will notice an increase in apple availability across various areas. Apple pies now require just one apple instead of two, making them a more accessible food option. Apples are also now sellable at water well vendors, and their presence in food caches near water wells has been increased. Small tweaks, but helpful for survival.

Additional Adjustments

A range of other changes and optimisations are being implemented, improving performance and refining various gameplay elements. These include:

  • Players no longer spawning in the jungle biome.

  • Turrets being less accurate when firing at players on moving trains.

  • Improved deploy volumes for triangle ladder hatches.

  • New seat-swapping binds for vehicles.

While smaller than a major content drop, these updates refine existing gameplay, making the experience smoother and more adaptable. As work continues on Rust’s future, particularly with naval mechanics, we’ll see even bigger shifts in the months ahead. Stay tuned for more updates as development progresses.
