Rust October Update – Blueprint Fragments & Monument Puzzles

Scheduled Wipe: Thursday, 2nd October 2025 Update Time: Approx. 7pm BST (subject to Facepunch release)

Facepunch’s October update introduces a major shift in progression mechanics, alongside expanded monument puzzles, quality-of-life improvements, and groundwork for future naval content. UK Rust test servers have integrated these changes ahead of wipe to ensure a smooth rollout, Below is a full breakdown of confirmed features.

Core Additions

Blueprint Fragment Progression

Workbench upgrades now require blueprint fragments in addition to scrap:

  • Tier 2 Workbench: 5 Basic Blueprint Fragments + 250 Scrap

  • Tier 3 Workbench: 5 Advanced Blueprint Fragments + 500 Scrap

  • Conversion: 20 Basic Fragments can be exchanged for 1 Advanced Fragment


Fragments are non-craftable and must be sourced from monument puzzles and loot crates. Hackable crates now guarantee 2 Advanced Fragments per drop.


Monument Puzzle Expansion

Several monuments have been updated to support the new progression system:

  • Dome: First puzzle room added

    • Green Card access

    • Rewards: Blue Card, Basic Fragment, Recycler

    • Puzzle involves switch activation and timed access

  • Rad Towns: Green Card puzzles added to smaller monuments

    • Rewards: Blue Card, Basic Fragment, food crates

    • Updated loot tables include corn, honey, and potatoes

These changes shift early-game progression toward monument exploration and puzzle solving.

Gameplay & System Changes

Bicycle Bunny-hopping

  • Activated via right-click

  • Limited to once every 3 seconds

  • Requires 10% sprint and grounded movement

  • Hop height scales with speed and sprint level

  • Physics-based movement allows smoother terrain navigation


Painting Rotation

  • Paintings can now be rotated during placement

  • Canvas rotation added for painting perspective (visual only)


UI & Cosmetic Updates

  • Rust Beds are now skinnable

  • HMLMG skin support in development

  • Crosshair settings added to UI with import/export functionality


Backend & World Improvements

  • Cargo ship pathfinding improved

  • River-side spawn bugs resolved across all known seeds

  • Continued development on naval content: floating cities, deep sea zones, island generation

  • Early Halloween 2025 assets added (spooky wallpapers, themed items)

  • Charity Plushies in progress


Wipe Details

  • Map & Blueprint Wipe: With the changes to the progression system, I am expecting Facepunch to do a full wipe across all servers, this isn't confirmed but be prepared.

  • Server Restarts: The server will enter a scheduled maintenance window between 6:30pm and approximately 7:15pm BST to apply the update.


Final Notes

This update marks a deliberate shift in Rust’s progression model, rewarding puzzle completion and monument control over raw scrap farming. UK Rust Vanilla uses default loot tables and monument configurations so you will see these changes.
