As the holiday season approaches, Rust players can look forward to a festive and exciting Christmas event. This year's event brings a variety of new features, returning favorites, and plenty of opportunities for players to celebrate in-game. Here's a detailed overview of what you can expect during the Rust Christmas event 2024.
Patch Day: December 16th
The festivities kick off with a client and server update scheduled for December 16th at 2pm EST / 7pm GMT. This update will not force a wipe, allowing players to continue their progress while enjoying the new content.
New Features and Returning Favourites

Ice Sculptures:
Players can now create ice sculptures using a block of ice crafted with 500 wood and 100 metal. Use various melee tools to carve the ice into any shape you desire. These sculptures will be available on the item store for the duration of the event.
Gingerbread Building Skin:
The festive Gingerbread building skin returns, available to all players. This skin applies to the wood building tier and changes the appearance of structures without affecting their statistics or colliders.

Gingerbread Mines:
Gingerbread mines are back, with about 12 per normal-sized map. These mines function similarly to Halloween portals, allowing players to enter and explore small dungeons populated with loot and gingerbread enemies. Defeat these enemies to collect festive items like small presents, snowball guns, and more.
Decorations at Monuments:
Fishing villages, bandit camps, and compounds are decorated for the holidays, adding a festive touch to the game world.
Presents:
Each in-game day, a jingle plays, and presents appear near players. Break them open to receive small or medium presents, which can be unwrapped or upgraded for better loot.
Santa's Sleigh:
Airdrops get a festive makeover, with Santa and his reindeer delivering massive presents. These airdrops include additional presents in the loot.

Stockings:
Hang stockings around your base to receive items over time. Small and super stockings will sparkle when they contain goodies.
Other Xmas Goodies:
Enjoy a variety of seasonal items, including sleds, ice walls, snowball guns, lights, snow machines, snowmen, and more.

Craftable Christmas Tree
Players can craft a Christmas Tree for 500 wood and 30 cloth. Decorate the tree with baubles, candy canes, pinecones, and gingerbread men to bring holiday cheer to your base.
Advent Calendar
The Advent Calendar is available as a default blueprint, allowing players to claim a new present every real-life day. Craft it with 100 wood and 20 cloth at a workbench level 1.
Conclusion
As development slows down for the holidays, the Rust team will take some well-deserved time off. The next update and forced wipe are scheduled for January 2nd. Until then, enjoy the festive season and have a wonderful holiday!
